Many of the drivers for biomass energy reflect important dimensions of sustainability for the economy, the environment, and society. But how do we insure that the systems that evolve will achieve their potential? Challenges and opportunities for sustainable bioenergy systems occur at every link of the value chain, from crop production to biomass conversion to utilization in power generation and transportation. Understanding these challenges and addressing them proactively is critical if biomass energy is to achieve its potential for our nation and the world.
